Campaign: Save the Neighbourhood Management Team

For the past two and a half years, our Neighbourhood Management Team in the have served the interests of the community - but we don't have to lose them! Read on how to save them:

What we could stand to lose next year

They provide a continuous presence in the Community Centre to listen and respond to residents concerns, and so far have listened to over 2,500 concerns resolving most of them.

Consulting with residents during open meetings, action days and surveys and working with the Neighbourhood Management Board and service providers they have completed over 60 projects in Agbrigg and in Belle Vue – making the area a more pleasant place to live. Some projects include:

  • Refurbish William Price Grove in Belle Vue

  • Improvements Agbrigg Park and Wesley Street Park

  • Resurfacing of roads and ginnels

  • Introduction of hanging baskets and plants, and tree planting

  • Welcome signs to both Agbrigg and Belle Vue

  • Community flags (now coming to Belle Vue)

  • Community garden

  • Improvements to streets scene and provision of more litter bins

Has anything ever been as effective at improving the area where we live than our Neighbourhood Management Team?

Many initiatives have come and gone over the years such as Sure Start and Neighbourhood Nursery, will we allow our Neighbourhood Management Team to go the same way?

When we discovered the strength of local feeling – the enormous number of residents who felt very strongly about this, we organized this campaign to help residents express their will to WMDC that our Neighbourhood Management Team be retained despite the end of the pilot scheme.

Our Neighbourhood Management Team WORKS! We want to keep it! We can keep it!
