I want to really save the world. Mere compliance with environmental or political fads is a poor substitute. But how to tell the difference? All discussion on global warming (including this) is politically loaded. Astute readers may have noticed generally that the old global warming problem is now termed climate change – possibly due to lack of actual evidence for problematic warming trends?
On June 5th, 6pm–8pm a Cabinet Listens session will be held at the Agbrigg & Belle Vue Community Centre. This is your chance to raise issues such as litter & fly tipping, anti social behaviour, roads and road safety and parks and open spaces with the senior decision makers of the council. Please come and have your say, and bring your friends and neighbours
Neighbourhood Management
The Neighbourhood Management Team are organising another action week for the Agbrigg & Belle Vue area from 14th to 18th July.
The plan is to get partner organisations and service providers to participate with residents, increase awareness of local problems and solutions, and improving and making people feel better about the area. The week will end with a Family Fun Day to celebrate the week.
Neighbourhood Management Team
Since the pilot was established in April 2007, the team has been engaging with residents and agencies to work out how best to improve the area. Outlined here are examples of four key projects that have recently been completed in response to residents needs.

On our travels delivering our Community Newspaper it is apparent that many of our elderly residents feel isolated and are unable to access many of the local groups, luncheon clubs etc. to socialise and keep updated with local events which are being promoted by the statutory bodies as important in maintaining physical and mental well-being.

Many young people from the Agbrigg & Belle Vue area were engaged in a sports activity week funded through HACT. The programme was delivered at Sandal Magna Primary School playing fields during the first week of the Easter break. The programme was delivered jointly by Agbrigg and Belle Vue Neighbourhood Management, Youth Forward, West Yorkshire Police and the Primary Care Trust.

We need volunteers in Agbrigg & Belle Vue to help deliver this community newspaper which is issued around 4 times each year.
In the past our own workers have done the bulk of the deliveries supported by local volunteers and the Neighbourhood Management Team, with attendees on the Unpaid Work programmes. We no longer have the help of the Unpaid Work programme.
At times, residents say they have not received a copy and as we are distributing 2,000 copies we wonder where they are going.
