Young at Heart- Leisure Group

The Young at Heart Leisure Group is an over 55s group which meets on Thursday afternoons at 1.30 pm in the Agbrigg and Belle Vue Community Centre.

Most weeks we have speakers and some of the topics covered since starting 4 years ago are: Bringing up a family in Madagascar, Healthy eating, Neighbourhood Management,  Pest control, Telecare in the community, Guide dogs for the blind, 50 years of rambling, Pensions advice, Hearing dogs for deaf people, Falls and prevention of falls, Links information, Age Concern, Work of the Salvation Army, Councillors, Red Cross, Benefits of physical activity, Talking newspapers, Trades and occupations, and craft activities; to name but a few.

Future topics include: Carers Association, One day in the life of an actor, Outwood Video Club — Eco building, Advocacy project for people with learning disabilities, Life and times of Eddy Waring, Autism, RNLI, Fostering and Adoption and a Flower centrepiece demonstration.

We also (those who wish) sometimes go out for an evening meal and a good time is always had by all. Everyone is welcome to come along and meet old and new friends and share conversation and tea or coffee and biscuits. We also have a weekly raffle with a modest prize.
Don’t sit at home, come along and meet with a lively group (who on occasions put the world to rights) have a laugh and a change of scenery.
