ABV Christmas Party 2007

On 8th December 2007, the Agbrigg and Belle Vue Community Association held the Community Christmas Party in the Community Centre.  By 4 o'clock people of all ages were pouring into the Centre. Fortunately Santa was one of the first to arrive and his 'little helper' (funny how Sam Worton was no where to be seen) gave every child a Christmas gift. 

To an outsider the next stage might have looked chaotic - but no - it was a time to meet friends, mix with new friends and generally relax.... the children had to wait...and they did, all 50??? of them, while the adults chatted and the food - a delicious combination of multicultural refreshments - was consumed - But "where is the entertainment?" began to be the voiced or unvoiced plea.  Then he arrived - just a guy in a funny costume - no props, no music, no balloons, no microphone, nothing but a guy in a funny costume.  He sat on a chair, the children began to swarm around him... then... in two minutes they were all sitting quietly on the floor hanging on his every word.  They loved him.  For 45 minutes he entertained them with words and imagination.  A rare magic and we all loved it.
