Have you seen the new fence as on Sugar Lane?
This is the start of many changes on our Woodcock Street Allotment site. The site is now securely fenced, You will soon see:
- More cleared plots (thanks to the WMDC Neighbourhood Environment Team). If you would like an allotment plot here, we now have some available (Current rents for a full plot are around £30 per year and £10 for water rates, half-plots may be available). To pick up an application form or to book a guided tour of the site please ring Jean on 249474.
- A large new Polytunnel for growing flowers, fruit and vegetables for the community has been sponsored by White Rose Credit Union Ltd. You can volunteer if you would like to help with growing but don’t want to commit to an allotment. Ring Jean for details.
- A steel storage container for a community tool bank will arrive soon. It will also be used for storing recyclable materials. If you have ideas on organising recycling on allotments ring Jean.
- An eco-building made from timber and straw bales with a living sedum roof will be constructed on site in 2005. If you would like to help with the construction ring Jean.
Don’t forget there is a trading hut/shop on Woodcock Street open on Sunday mornings where you can purchase gardening supplies. To buy at great prices, membership is just £1.
Work on other sites is also being planned. Watch this space.
