The straw bale eco-building on the Woodcock Street allotments was officially opened on 28th October by Nikolas Sanins, long time resident and allotment holder.

The eco-building was funded by ERDF, The Big Lottery Fund and SRB6. The building can be used by groups/individuals in support of a “green, healthy or environmental” approach. In addition to a small kitchen and a composting toilet, the eco building has a large room which is already in use by allotment gardeners, community link, 5-A-Day and the Friends of Woodcock Street Allotment (based on the allotment site). This enables the groups to continue to work on their gardens and have somewhere warm and dry to go for a coffee or enjoy their lunch. meetings and community events are also held in the building.
